The photo menu on the Archos 5 is almost the same as on the 605.
We can still find a direct access to the uPnP network in order to view your photos through your local network. Thumbnails are classified by date or by folder (it’s up to you to create them).

It is possible to launch a diaporama, which can be accompanied with music. Transitions between photos are established with the help of little effects. When looking at a photo, you can zoom-in by simply pressing on it for about 2-3 seconds.
It is also possible to access the photos’ informations. You may find the picture type (JPEG, PNG, ...), the resolution, the date (when the photo has been taken), the exposition time, the optic opening and flash use (yes or no).
The quality is really nice. We tested with our own photos and we were impressed... The colors are hot and nice. Amazing...
The zoom feature is very fluid, it’s instant on some little photos. A thing that could of be nice is a multi-touch screen. We could of had more fun zooming...
Compatibility
The Archos can read photos in : JPEG, BMP, PNG. We had no problem reading some 7MP photos.
As the 605, the Archos 5 supports RAW files with JPG pictures included. In fact, it can read the JPG picture included in the RAW picture but no the RAW picture.
